LOVING GOD
We heard a lot about people talking about “loving God” when we sat in church. What does it mean? What does the Bible say about loving God? What does God the Father say, by way of Jesus Christ, what loving God is? How can we prove that we love God? Heaven, or where God lives, is far away from earth where we live. How can we say that we love God who is millions of miles away from us when we do not love our wives who are only two feet away from us? Paul’s “law of Christ” in Galatians 6:2 tells us to “love God and others”, and nothing more. The “law of Christ” is confusing because it doesn’t tell us HOW to love God who is millions of miles away from us, and HOW to love our spouses who are only two feet away from us. And frankly I am not confused at all if we don’t know because CONFUSION is the modus operandi of the serpent, Satan. Satan uses preachers and pastors to deceive us. And exactly for that reason God the Father, by way of Jesus Christ, warned us and said, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. "You will know them by their fruits…;"A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor [can] a bad tree bear good fruit. "Therefore by their fruits you will know them. "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7: 15-16,18,20-23.
Every preacher in church will tell you that if you have faith in God, who is millions of miles away from us, we will go to heaven, but he will not tell you what you have to do to claim your reward. This, in essence, is what the “law of Christ” is. Claim a warranty without complying with the terms of the warranty. Can we not learn from the history of Adam and Eve? History tells us that nothing will save us, not even faith, if we don’t do the will of God the Father, nothing! What is the will of the Father? Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15). What does the apostle Paul say?
“Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God [is what matters].” 1 Corinthians 7:19.
Do we know what God’s commandments are, specifically, from one to ten? Do we know what His other teachings or commandments that are listed in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? The men/women of great faith that Jesus rejected in Matthew 7:21-23 were rejected not because they had no faith in God, but because they had no work that they can show that they love God.
