THE DIFFERENCE

Readers, what is the difference between doctors and preachers? They are the same. They make too much money, but they teach too little. Why do they teach too little? Because they are too busy making money. Many doctors don’t spend enough time teaching their patients, and many churches spend too much time entertaining and collecting offerings, instead of teaching their members the truth and nothing but the truth. And so, as you all can see, there is not much difference between doctors and preachers. What can we do as patients and church members? Find a caring doctor or go to a different church, right now.
Teaching patients is not an easy job. I know from my experience. We have to persuade them to do what we want them to do even if that is good for them.
Teaching  church members is a much easier job. They have to do nothing to go to heaven.
The apostle Paul said, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. Look at the thief on the cross. Jesus was gracious to him because he had faith but no work. Was that the reason why Jesus saved him? Did Jesus say why He had saved the thief on the cross? No. Then how do we know? All we know was what the one thief said to Jesus and to the other thief who was saved, “Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? "And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Luke 23:39-43.
This story about the thief on the cross that Jesus saved was an exception. Paul and every preacher in the world must be honest and say that this story was an exception. Why? Because Revelation 20:12-13 states, “And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.” None will be judged by their faith alone, none!
Did our preachers say that we are saved by our works and not by faith alone? No. Why? Because they are too busy making money. Doctors and preachers have a very important job to do, and that is teaching. Jesus spent most of His life teaching.
I am pleading to all doctors, teach more and make less money to help your patients, and get them better quicker. I am also pleading to all preachers, teach the truth and nothing but the truth. God bless.
