THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD
Not too many Christians know the commandments of God. In fact, few Christians know the commandments of God. For example, how many Christians know this commandment of God, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day [is] the Sabbath of the LORD your God. [In it] you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who [is] within your gates.” Exodus 20:8-10.? Not many. Do you know why? Because we are too busy collecting offerings and singing. Now, how many Christians know this commandment of men,
The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine gives this concise question-and-answer explanation of the history we’ve covered above:
“Q: Which is the Sabbath day?
“A: Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Q: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
“A: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea, transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday” (Peter Geiermann, 1957, p. 50).
Christians all over the world know this commandment of men, even in remote African countries. I saw their church services on TV, and I don’t remember seeing people putting money on offering plates, or walking to the podium and putting envelopes, checks, or money in large boxes while singing hymns. Jesus said in Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” When will Jesus come when we are too busy collecting offerings and singing, when? That's why God said, "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16.
