PSYCHIC
Decades ago while I was still single and know nothing about the Bible, my uncle and I went to a remote town to see a well known fortune teller. When we got to his house, I saw a long line of people standing in line in front of the house waiting to see him, male, female, young and old. It’s like going to the movies. When I got into the house I was greeted by a skinny man sitting behind a typewriter. As I sat in front of him, he looked at me and started to type on a page of blank paper. When he was finished, he gave me the paper that he had typed and said, read. I gave him some money. My uncle also saw him, and then we left. I thought nothing about the paper that he gave me. But about a year later I saw that almost all of his predictions came true. Isn’t that amazing? A friend told me that the man who typed was typing voices he heard that talked to him about my future. Strange, but now I understand.
Jesus said, "For I have not spoken on My own [authority]; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak." John 12:49-50. God the Father spoke directly to Jesus and told Him what to say. Are we preachers and pastors telling our congregation everything that God the Father wants them to hear and know, are we telling them everything that they must hear and know, or are we telling them only what tickles their ears?
The apostle Paul wrote, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. Paul says that we are saved by faith alone.
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matthew 7:21-23. Jesus told these men/women of great faith that faith alone is not sufficient for our salvation. We must do the will of God the Father, and follow His commandments.
Even Paul said this, contradicting himself, “Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God [is what matters].” 1 Corinthians 7:19. Here Paul says that circumcision or uncircumcision is not necessary for our salvation. What truly matters is obedience to God’s commandments. Obedience to God’s commandments is WORK! First Paul says that faith is important for our salvation, and not work. And then he wrote that work is important for our salvation. And so, what is important for our salvation, faith or work? I don’t understand what is it that Paul wants me to do?
Let us ask God the Father what He wants us to do.
In Genesis 15:6 and Genesis 22:12 God said that Abraham was seen as a righteous man because of his faith in God, but Isaac was saved because Abraham fears God. If we say that we fear God, but we refuse to do what He tells us to do, we are LIARS! The apostle John says, “He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4.
Know which of your pastors and preachers are lying to you. Liar, liar, pants on fire. The specifics of what we can do and cannot do are found only in His commandments. Remember, God is not our mama! He is the Enforcer of His laws, and not our mama where we can do anything that we want and mama can do nothing.
