WHY DO WE HAVE TO BE BORN AGAIN?
In John 3:3 Jesus said to Nicodemus, "Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." Nicodemus then asked, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:4-6.
Jesus apppears to make a distinction between being born of "water" (born of the flesh) and being born of the Spirit (practice righteousness). Being born of the flesh is impossible when we are already old. But being born again of the Spirit is possible. Born again means that we must have a good conscience like little children if we want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. We must repent. We must obey God and do what He wants us to do. We must be obedient to the voice of God. And we must repent! This is the key to our salvation, repentance! Jesus' death on the coss cannot save us. Jesus may die 1,000 times for us, but if we don't repent, we will go to hell! We may be baptized 1,000 times, but if we don't repent we have no other place to go other than hell.
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28. Eternal life and God's protection we will get from Jesus if we follow HIM. Jesus said that if we hear His voice and follow Him, He will give us eternal life, and we shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch us out of His hand.” We must, however, listen and be obedient to Him only! And we must be willing to repent! Jesus said, "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48. I believe that through repentance God the Father will make us perfect. Are we listening to Jesus’ voice, or are we listening to our voice? Are we doing His will, or are we doing our will? If we listen to His voice, follow Him, and do His will, we are His sheep and He is our Shepherd. In Matthew 7:21-23. Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" We must be born again and be a different person. We must repent and leave our bad habits behind. We must be willing to repent. We have to be born again if we want to live with Jesus. We must have a new Spirit if we are born again.
If we say we are born again, and our bad temper is still the same as last week, don't give up. Try again, ask God to help us, and we will be a different person tomorrow. Don't give up until we reach perfection.
